EPs are tests that allow us to measure brain and spinal cord activity through sensory nerve pathways (Somatosensory Evoked Potentials or SSEPs), the visual system neural pathways (Visual Evoked Potentials or VEPs) and auditory neural pathways (Brains Stem Auditory Evoked Responses or BAER’s).

During testing, patients experience either skin stimulus (for SSEPs) or visual stimulus on a computer monitor (for VEPs) or auditory stimulus through head phones (for BAER’s) and in each case, brain responses are recorded. You may eat and drink as usual on the day of the test. These tests are not painful or harmful in any way. Results are typically reviewed with you at your follow up appointment.
